Pier 70 was not only a pivotal project for the commerce of the city of San Francisco, but also historic. The site, a 69-acre property owned by the Port of San Francisco and located in the city’s central waterfront—is listed as the Union Iron Works Historic District on the National Register, and is considered one of the most intact industrial complexes west of the Mississippi. A  long dormant battleship production site from World War II, Pier 70 found unilateral support via a public-private partnership to restore and redevelop the Site.

Today, construction is well underway on the $3.5 billion waterfront neighborhood with modern, sustainable architecture centered around 9 acres of genuine public green space. Upon completion, it will have approximately 1,500 residential units, 1,750,000 sq ft of office space, 90,000 sq ft of arts non-profit space, 75,000 sq ft of light manufacturing space and  42,000 sq ft of retail.
